Spring Cleaning Your Kitchen
Kitchens get a lot of use—from cooking meals to maintaining appliances. Since you don’t pay much attention to your appliances except when they’re in use, it can be easy to overlook them when it’s time to tidy up at the end of the day. Spring cleaning is the perfect time to deep clean.
Start with your fridge right before a big shopping trip, so it’s fairly empty. Scrub the shelves down with warm, soapy water, then rinse them clean. Don’t forget the drawers and door—a spray made with vinegar and hot water is a safe way to remove caked-on gunk and grime.
Next, tackle your microwave. Heat water and either lemon or vinegar in a microwave-safe bowl for about three minutes. Let it sit for a minute or two, then scrub the inside with a damp sponge. The tougher grease and food particles will be loosened and easier to wipe from the appliance.

While you’re probably cleaning your bathroom regularly, it’s good to give it a deeper clean for spring cleaning. Bathroom cabinets and under the sink are often where various items end up, such as expired medicine, cotton balls, makeup, and shower supplies.
Take inventory of everything you have and then get rid of what you no longer use and any expired products. Small, labeled bins are handy for under-the-sink organizing. Designate each shelf of your medicine cabinet for a specific purpose: dental care, medicine, and shaving supplies.
For the sink, use an old toothbrush to scrub fixtures and drains, and then rinse clean with warm water. Spray your mirrors with a glass cleaner and wipe them clean with a microfiber cloth for a streak-free finish.
Other Areas to Tackle During Your Spring Cleaning
Some parts of your house may be forgotten during a daily or weekly clean, so spring cleaning is the ideal time to focus on them. The walls of your home can become surprisingly dirty throughout the year. Wash with a mixture of warm water and dish detergent. Use a clean microfiber floor mop for scrubbing the walls to cover a larger surface area.
Another often overlooked area is the top of the ceiling fan. Use a duster with a handle that extends to reach the individual blades. While you have the duster out, dust your staircase if you have wood floors. The stairs are often neglected during regular floor cleaning.
